New LED Lighting Autumn 2014 - Part 2

We bring you another part of Philips' innovations in LED lighting, which is probably the fastest growing lighting and light source technology. The biggest advantage of LED light sources is their durability and efficiency, or the power input/light output ratio. Development has further increased their efficiency, which is now higher than that of energy saving bulbs, fluorescent lamps and the latest LED chips outperform even weaker discharge lamps. New LED light sources are also being developed to replace the convectional ones. Examples include new LED tubes or bulbs that mimic conventional filament bulbs.

For Q3 2014 Philips comes with a new CorePro LED capsule 1.2W, which has a G4 socket, is 12V powered and has a luminous intensity of 105lm. It is therefore equivalent to a 10W halogen G4 bulb. Philips thus offers a reasonably priced replacement for halogen bulbs on a G4 base, with an 88% saving in electricity.

135 lm/W LED tube

Philips launches LED tubes that are designed for luminaires with electronic ballast. The existing range was designed either for direct 220 V (230 V) or for luminaires with an electromagnetic ballast, where the starter was replaced by a special starter for LED tubes.

The new tubes are available in 1200 mm and 1500 mm lengths with power consumption of 16.5W (120 cm), 22W and 25W (150 cm). The light colour is 4000°K cold white and 6500°K daylight. The tubes can be identified by the HF marking.

The efficiency of these LED tubes ranges from 100 lm/W to 140 lm/W, which exceeds the efficiency of conventional linear fluorescent tubes with an efficiency between 80 lm/W and 95 lm/W. This results in energy savings and an early return on investment.

The use of these new tubes is only possible on an electronic and dimmable ballast. They cannot be used on an electromagnetic ballast. The MASTER LEDtube series without HF marking can be used on electromagnetic chokes.
